As part of its mandate to protect drinking water supplies in Massachusetts, the Division of Water Supply was authorized to review water filtration plant construction proposals of local and district water systems and administer a program reimbursing water systems for upgrading or constructing new facilities, pursuant to St 1982, c 286, ss 18-19. Series was created to administer this grant reimbursement program.
